Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the team access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This means them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Questers and Planners tables.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
