The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video this week, and fan speculation has been intense.
The first season introduces a diverse group of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by songs about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel fan obsession.
The community's expectations for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the creator stated earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season moves, and how many of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a few fans make a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
